How we verify patch notes
Every patch note on this page is cross-checked against the official Garlic Sprouts Discord announcement and the Steam announcement. When the two sources disagree, we use the Steam announcement as the source of truth (since it is the canonical patch note file).
Hotfix vs minor vs major
We classify each patch into one of three categories:
- Major — adds new content (cats, dungeons, modes) or changes the meta meaningfully.
- Minor — balance changes, bug fixes, or small quality-of-life improvements.
- Hotfix — urgent fix for a critical bug that blocks progression.
Archive policy
We keep every patch note indefinitely, even when a patch is rolled back or superseded by a later hotfix. The original patch note stays visible so returning players can understand the historical state of the game.
Each entry on this page links back to the relevant Discord announcement or Steam news post so you can verify against the primary source.
How to read a balance pass
Every balance pass hits one of three categories: melee cats, ranged cats, or support cats. Garlic Sprouts publishes a small comparison table in the announcement — the wiki mirrors that table and adds our own S-tier reshuffle within 48 hours. Cats that move up typically see their passive trigger chance increased by 5 percent, or their cooldown reduced by one second. Cats that move down see the inverse. The S-Tier Cats page is the easiest way to track which cats are still top of the meta.
What “client version” really means
The client version on the main menu is the major version. Hotfixes bump the minor version but keep the major version the same — so a player on client 1.4.7 and a player on client 1.4.8 are still considered to be on the same major. Mandatory patches bump the major version and force a download. Optional patches bump the minor version and download silently in the background.
Archived hotfixes
Below the major patches we keep a chronological list of every hotfix ever shipped — including the ones Garlic Sprouts did not announce publicly. These are useful when you hit a bug that was supposed to be fixed but resurfaces after a major patch.
Frequently Asked Questions
Fast answers to the questions players ask most.
Do patches remove content?
No. Garlic Sprouts never removes published cats or content. Re-balances may make some cats weaker, but they stay playable.
How do I get notified when a patch ships?
Enable Steam notifications on the Claws Of Power store page. We also relay every major patch on the wiki home.
Do patches add paid content?
All added cats and dungeons are free. Paid content is limited to cosmetic skins and the season pass.
